A mom entrepreneur has one of the most challenging jobs in the world. It requires careful balancing of two very demanding roles – that of a mom and entrepreneur. Nowadays a number of stay-at-home moms are looking to create a home-based business for self-fulfillment, extra income and sometimes both. Many moms have taken that extra leap – leave their corporate job to become a successful mom entrepreneur. Here are 5 tips that will help you in this regard –
The mom entrepreneur

- Build a support network
In order to be a successful mom entrepreneur, one needs to build a strong support network and seek opinions from friends and families. You must make sure that your husband is always there for you in this, both financially and mentally. You must look for a mentor from Day 1. A mentor would be someone who has more experience than you and one who is willing to mentor you.
- Set up big but achievable goals
There are two things a mom must do –
- Set a goal and
- Try to achieve it as smoothly as possible
When you set big goals, you get fully motivated and work really hard to achieve that seemingly impossible goal. Your business plan should be to break up that big goal into small achievable steps so that you can work diligently to achieve them.
- Get ready to work hard
Working hard does not necessarily mean putting in a lot of hours. Shuffling between the act of being a mom and an entrepreneur is not at all an easy task and is actually one of the most difficult tasks of being a mompreneur. You can work late at night or in the early morning but you must be dedicated to work hard and achieve your goals.
- Make it happen
Always be confident and take real actions. Many businesses suffer because the entrepreneurs unnecessarily begin to believe that they are the next best thing and fail to understand that businesses do not succeed overnight.
- Always be flexible with your plan
There is no model of ‘one size fits all’ business. Depending on the type of business you choose and the personality of that business, results will come. You may spend in excess of USD 10000 in marketing in the first year but the results may still come in very slowly. On the other hand, on another type of business, you may have spent only USD 1000 but the results may come sooner than expected.
