If you want to have a lively home, then the only better way to do it is by considering your kids first. Focusing on your home interior, you can make it kid-friendly through creativity or out of necessity. You can also involve the kids in some activities.

A home is not a home unless the conditions are suitable for everyone living in it. Making your home kid-friendly doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your original home design, which used to be your favorite. You can use exquisite kitchen appliances for your modern home interior and give it an outstanding appearance. You may need to add some tiny details to what you already have and a bit of creativity. However, if you’re not creative enough, then we’ve got your back. These tips will help you work everything out for you and your kids.

1. Set a Living Room Play Area

Despite having their rooms full of toys and spacious enough for playing, kids will always want to play in the living room where there are other people. A play area in the living room will save you the trouble of collecting the toys they will be dropping all over as they try to move with them from one place to another. When selecting small home interior design ideas, you might want to consider one that will allow you to create that play area for the kids. This way, they can easily reach them and store them away when it’s time to clean up.

2. Non-Edged Furniture

Kids are always moving around in the house and are prone to mishaps since they keep knocking items on their way. Having furniture with edges will put them into harm’s way, and you may have to treat wounds and injuries now and then. Rounded furniture can save you the trouble; however, if you already have edged furniture, then you might consider using edge protectors for your dream home interior.

3. Kid-Friendly Paint for Your Home Interior

Do you know how to choose paint colors for your home interior that’s suitable for your kids? Children can be so messy when growing up, and sometimes they can create some ugly mess on the walls, which is hard to undo. Choosing a paint that can make your wall easy to clean if they spill or make some drawings will save you the trouble of having to repaint now and then.

4. Create for Them a Storage Space

With children around, you might require unlimited storage space to accommodate all their belongings. Creating extra shelves can work for small interior design if you can’t afford an additional room. Hooks can also be handy for hanging their coats and bags once they have arrived from school. If they can reach the hooks, then the better since they can hang their items and remove them themselves whenever they need them.

5. Fixed Cushion Sofas

If your kid is not that jumpy, then consider yourself very lucky. But then, they may not be jumpy but are so playful that they will want to pull those cushions out of the sofa and play with them now and then. To avoid chaos in the house and maintain orderliness, consider these fixed cushion sofas for a beautiful home interior.

6. Carpet Tiles

You don’t want to regret spending all that amount on a costly rug for your home interior only for it to last a few days, and you’re already tired and can’t stand it anymore. Kids will always spill things on the floor ranging from food to ink. They don’t care how much that rug cost you to purchase or how much energy it will require to clear the mess. Carpet tiles are easier to clean and will spare you the trouble or wear and tear. You can save that rug for later when they are old enough to know what they are doing.

7. Stain Repellent Fabrics

If only it were possible to avoid fabrics until kids are all grown, then it would spare one all the trouble. Too bad you need fabrics, for your window and door curtains, your expensive velvet chairs, and sometimes even the clothes that you wear. The child doesn’t know that you’ve just cleaned up, they will come with their soiled hand and touch that velvet seat or that bright window curtain.

8. Make Their Rooms Colorful

Kids are attracted to colorful things and you don’t want to bore them with some dull colored paints in their rooms. There are several home interior paint ideas you can use to make your kids’ room look attractive. Have some fun with those glossy and colorful paints.

Conclusion

There are many ways of making your home kid-friendly. You don’t have to focus on the home interior only, improvising a play area outside for outdoor activities can also be an interesting idea. Whatever works for you and your kid don’t shy away from trying. Involve the kids more so you can have fun together working on your ideas.

What ideas have you improvised to make your home kid-friendly? Feel free to share your ideas.
