Tips for New Year’s Eve with children
- Buy (for each child) a confetti popper and sparklers to still have fireworks at midnight.
- No New Year’s Eve without a disco. Make a playlist in advance with the favorite songs of the entire family.
- Make edible fireworks. For example, think of candy rockets made of bacon or savory rockets made of sausages with puff pastry.
- End the year with a chat jar. Let everyone think of some questions in advance. Take turns choosing a card and start chatting!
- Write down your good intentions for next year together. TIP: Store the answers with your Christmas stuff, then you will find them again next year!
- Let everyone choose a game and make it a fun games night. Toppers for evenings like this: 30 seconds monopoly etc.
- Make it a real party with a variety evening or talent show. Choose your favorite song for a cool dance act, put on fancy dress for a funny play or become the best joke teller.
- Make your own children’s cocktail to toast with at 00:00. If you still have young children, you can toast with a festive cocktail around normal bedtime.
- Make a Happy New Year video with your family and send it to all your friends and family after 12 o’clock.
- New Year’s Eve is of course not complete without delicious food. And how much fun is it to make them yourself?
- Make your own New Year’s Eve conference at home. Have everyone in your family prepare a short speech/presentation/highlight story during the day and recite it to each other in the evening.
- Play a dice game. Find all the things in your room that you no longer need, make nice drawings and tasty pastries and wrap them up nicely.
- Very trendy,… make a grazing table. Fill the entire table with treats down to the last corner. Of course, a healthy corner is a must.
- Count down to the new year with the special countdown videos on YouTube and Netflix (and of course that is also possible at 8:00 PM 😉)
- Make countdown bags for the children from the afternoon with a craft, games, ingredients to make snacks etc. Every hour you can open a new bag!
- Make a firework painting by cutting a toilet roll, push the strips out, dip them in paint and stamp away!
- Do you fancy a cozy evening? Drag all the mattresses downstairs and sleep together in the living room.
- My kids love it. Roasting marshmallows at a campfire. Also really something to do on New Year’s Eve. Also search the internet for the tastiest s’mores recipes.
- Make a jar (and decorate it) in which you keep the most beautiful moments each week. You open this jar at the end of the following year.
- Make a mood board together for the coming year. What do you want to do, learn or perfect in the coming year?
