If there is one thing guaranteed to make your garden look even better than it already does – and to make it an ideal space for quiet contemplation, for entertaining, or just for looking wonderful – it’s a water feature. The sound of water trickling and babbling, the look of the water as it tumbles out of the water feature, and the area you can create around it all mean that it’s an ideal addition no matter what size garden you have or what level of gardening you are interested in. Read on to discover some of the most popular water feature ideas for a delightful garden.

Water Rills

A water rill is a gorgeous water feature, and it will make a huge difference to your garden. A rill is a shallow channel that takes water from one place to another. You can set up a network of them across the garden if you want something more complex, or a single rill that goes from one area to a pond or additional water feature, for example. Rills can come in a variety of different materials and textures and will make an interesting water feature in any garden, no matter what theme you might decide on.

Water Bowls

You can put water bowls from water-garden.co.uk anywhere in your garden, and it will automatically make it look delightful. However, the best place to put a water bowl is in the darker areas of your garden, perhaps where trees or bushes (or even your own house) cast shadows. This is because if you position the water bowl in just the right spot, it will reflect light around your garden and brighten up even the darkest corners.

Streams

Some people are lucky and have natural streams in or near their gardens. However, if you don’t have this natural water feature, you can create one. This will take a little more work, and you might need to get some outside expert help to ensure your stream is created in a safe, secure way, but the final result will certainly be worth it. This idea becomes even better if you choose to add some steppingstones across the stream (assuming it’s wide enough) or even a bridge.

Pouring Jugs

Pouring jugs are exactly what they sound like: two, three, or even more jugs (often made from terracotta, but other materials can be used) that are stacked in an attractive pattern. Water trickles from the top jug down through all the jugs to the bottom. The water is then sucked back up to the top so that none is wasted and the sound of trickling water is constant. What’s really great about pouring jugs is that they can be free-standing, or they can be attached to a wall or other structure, depending on the design of your garden and your own personal tastes.

Whirlpools

For something a little more unusual that will add a delightful touch to your garden, why not consider a whirlpool? Whirlpools are relaxing to watch, and many say they are mesmerising due to the movement of the water and the sound it makes. You can place a whirlpool anywhere in the garden.
