In 2018, Dolce & Gabbana built a 5,400-square-foot store in Miami. The store is styled after Teatro alla Scalla, a famous opera house in Milan. It contains two levels and large baroque mirrors, marble, gold velvet and dark walnut. The Miami store looks and feels like a museum and fashion boutique wrapped in one.
The store is in the heart of Miami’s Design District, and rightfully so. It contains Italian statues and busts illuminated by spotlights alongside unique clothing and accessories. As Miami enters Art Week, it makes sense that D&G would make an appearance too.
Dolce & Gabbana and the Alta Moda Show
The Alta Moda fashion show is a spectacle. In July, the Alta Moda show premiered in Siracusa’s main Piazza Duomo. It was a larger-than-life show with an operatic performance and a historic religious procession set against the backdrop of a cathedral.
The 2022 line includes ruffles and intricate lace. The color scheme is predominately black and gold, with Catholic iconography, spread throughout the collection. At the same time, bright splashes of color are present, black ties everything together. Alta Moda is classic and baroque, with apparent links to vintage D&G. Alta Moda, like art, connects people to tradition, lifestyle and history.
Dolce & Gabbana and Design Miami
Miami Art Week happens every December. It is an international and contemporary showcase of significant artwork. Design Miami and Art Basel happen simultaneously during Art Week and various other events. Dezeen lists the events that attendees can enjoy throughout the week, including virtual meditation, a brightly colored skatepark and solar-powered cars. Among the various other shows, D&G will also be present in their Miami location.
The D&G Casa will present a series of design objects, including textiles, furniture and decorative objects. The partnership of D&G and Luxury Living Group brings to life passion, beauty and hospitality. People often describe art as being representative of the human experience. D&G’s Miami Takeover reveals the art in daily life.
Dolce & Gabbana and Modern Glamor
Vogue describes D&G’s Miami Takeover as an affair focusing on fashion, watchmaking, interior design and jewelry. Miami has been a hub of luxury and style since the 1930s. It is one of the world’s fashion capitals. In the last decade, Miami has gone through a renaissance. Art Basel and Design Miami have solidified Miami as a design hub. While art and design grow in popularity throughout Miami, so does fashion.
Miami houses fashion brands that believe in sustainability and creating unique, timeless pieces. D&G’s values align with Miami’s modern glamor. High-end fashion is not throwaway or fast fashion. D&G creates high-quality clothing and accessories to complement a high-end lifestyle. Modern glamor is elegant, sophisticated and exclusive, much like D&G.
In December, Miami celebrates art and design throughout the city. There are various events, shows and spectacles to behold. Dolce & Gabbana are not strangers to the spectacle. Their Alta Moda line is an artistic display of luxury fashion.
