The nature vs. nurture debate has finally been solved. And the answer is that both of these are equally important in the development of a child. Epigenetics is how environmental influences – a child’s experiences, can have an effect on the expression of the child’s genes. Genes are not carved in stone, they can be affected by a child’s environment. The genetic code itself is not affected but the degree of its expression is altered depending on environmental influences. Which will cause a great deal of variation. So here are five tips for you to maximize your child’s development. Through your knowledge of epigenetics:
Take care of yourself
This may seem completely out of the line. But it is perhaps one of the most relevant, yet the most ignored aspect of your young one’s development. During pregnancy, you must not stress yourself. If your husband insists that you don’t push yourself too hard and that you need a break, listen to him, that’s exactly what you need. Your physical and mental state during pregnancy will have a profound effect on the physiology of your child, take a break “mommy to be” – you deserve it

Epigenetics Kid’s brains are sensitive
The epigenetics of your child’s development can be affected by both positive and negative influences – so try your best (which I am pretty sure that you already are doing) to expose your child to positive and happy emotions rather than sad ones – they can leave an indelible mark.
Provide supportive and nurturing stimuli
During all phases of life, children should feel confident that they’ll receive the support they need from you. Be supportive at every instance, especially during the early years, when your child is learning how to live, your support will go a long way in inculcating positive feelings in your child.
Allow exploration
Children should not be kept from exploring their environments, yes one must ensure that everything in their surrounding is perfectly safe, but the explorative ability should not be diminished – this is what leads them to innovation later in life, and don’t we all want that for our kids?

Avoid stress
Keeping your kids away from stress also involves staying away from it yourself. Be relaxed, all problems will pass and everything will be good again. Children can sense your stress and will be affected by it as well.
