Mowing…
A mower can be used to drive away weeds quickly and easily, cutting through grass as soon as the grass blades touch the ground. This can be especially useful for large weeds such as Scotch broom.
Comb…
For larger, long grass, there is a better way. Choose a compound mower that has a heavy-duty weed cutting blade that reaches up to ten inches into the weeds. You can also buy weed cutting blades, which are sold separately, that are held together by a plastic cable and are designed for larger weeds.
Gently push the lawnmower blade into the weeds. You should be able to see the bottom of the blade and hear the blades whirring as they cut the weed. Cut it deep enough to get at the inner stem of the weed.
Unhook the cable and reel in the weed cutting blade.
Leave the grass well cut off and allow the blade to rest. After several hours, you’ll see the blades come out of the grass.

Comb…
This is the trickiest way to go. You’ll need a fine comb to get into the weeds and a shovel to pick up the grass. The trick here is that you need a grater-like tool with a fine needle. A sharp-tipped one is best, but any kitchen utensil will do.
Simply stick the scraper into the weeds and push it in until you feel the grass begin to come out of the grass. You should be able to see the grass coming out of the weeds in this photo.
Unhook the cable from the weed scraper and reel in the grass. You’ll need to make several passes through the grass before you get all the grass out. Keep cutting until you’re satisfied with the amount of grass cut off. When the grass is all cut off, the grass will look more weed-like.

Apply…
Pour about a cup of liquid dish detergent on the grass. Then, put some olive oil on your hands and start removing the leafy weeds. Don’t get all the weed out of the weeds; you want to see them fall out of the grass. As you do this, make sure to tie up any excess weeds.
This is a photo of the final lawn, with only the weeds showing. There are plenty of more pictures on the My Hobbypage.
Congratulations, you’ve completed a safe and easy hobby!
