Rinse Immediately After Use

When you are done feeding your baby, rinse the bottle out immediately. If you wait too long, formula or breast milk will dry on the inside and become much harder to remove. Also, removing any residue from the bottle quickly will reduce potential bacteria growth in the bottle.

Clean Thoroughly

Once you have rinsed out the bottle as best as you can with tap water, use warm soapy water to clean the inside thoroughly and outside of the bottle. Pay special attention to areas like spouts, lids, nipples, and crevices that may have food stuck. Don’t forget to use a brush or sponge explicitly intended for cleaning bottles!

Use Natural Cleaners

When cleaning your baby bottles, avoid using harsh chemicals or detergents, as these may leave behind residue that could harm your little one. Instead, opt for natural solutions such as baking soda mixed with vinegar or plain hot water mixed with lemon juice. These solutions effectively remove bacteria from surfaces without leaving any toxic residue.

Disinfect

After washing with soap and water, it is essential to disinfect your bottles at least once per week or after each illness in your household using boiling water or a sterilizer. Boiling water should be between 5-10 minutes, depending on how big and how many items need sterilizing. When using a sterilizer, follow all instructions carefully, as each model has different guidelines for usage!

Use a Straw Brush

After rinsing, use a straw brush (available at any grocery store) to get into all those nooks and crannies in the nipple area where milk particles tend to accumulate over time. Just make sure you wash this brush regularly too!

Dry Completely

After washing and sterilizing, rinse with cold tap water until all soap suds have been removed. Then lay it out on a clean towel or drying rack (or both). Allow air drying entirely before storing away in an organized manner, either in cupboards or drawers away from heat sources like stoves or ovens! Be sure not to stack too high, so air can circulate around each item evenly, allowing no moisture build-up, which could cause mold growth!

Store Properly

Once all items have been washed and dried, they should be stored properly, so they stay clean longer! Place them in an organized fashion, such as nesting them together with lids off or upside down. This way, everything can easily be identified without having to take things apart, which increases the chance of spreading germs! Another tip is labeling containers if needed, so everyone knows what goes where!
