Tell us about yourself and what you do

My name is Lex. I am a mom of 2 boys who are 4-years-old, and 5-years-old. I live in a rural town in Alberta Canada with my husband and our dog Moose. I enjoy camping, horse riding, and curling up by the fire with a warm cup of tea.
I am a Certified Life & Health Coach working specifically with moms to help them end burnout, love their bodies, and truly enjoy motherhood. After experiencing mom burnout myself which resulted in me resenting my children and my husband, it has become my mission to help moms avoid burnout and love motherhood. Helping moms be happy, healthy and flourishing individuals so they can raise kids who are happy, healthy, and flourishing people means everything to me.
Do you think we have overburdened motherhood?
I absolutely think that we have overburdened motherhood. I think that many people, including many moms, believe that a mother is just a woman with the added responsibility of a child. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. A mother is a woman who has gone through a complete transformation, psychologically, physically, emotionally, and socially. Being expected to deal with that, the demands of a child or children, and still maintain the life and priorities she had before is a huge unrealistic expectation.
A lot of moms deal with exhaustion and anxiety can you give us some strategies/tips for moms that deal with mom burnout?
It’s impossible to pour from an empty cup, so the first thing to do to deal with exhaustion and anxiety is self-care. It doesn’t have to be anything big or long. But to continuously have things in your life that make you smile. A song, a picture, an item of clothing, etc, things as simple as this can bring us joy, and when we feel joy our energy increases.
Gratitude is also huge. It’s human nature to complain about things we aren’t so happy with. Since what we focus on grows, when we focus on the negative we see more of it. So, in order to help alleviate some of the anxiety of motherhood its extremely helpful to look for the little things every day that you are grateful for. It can be anything from your morning cup of coffee to the sound of your child’s laughter, anything at all. The more we look for the good, the more good we will find. Feeling good not only alleviates some anxiety, but it also boosts our energy.
A take-anywhere strategy I give all my clients is breathwork. It seems so simple, but when we are stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious, our breathing quickens. We can trick our body into believing that we are less stressed, or not stressed at all by breathing slowly. I call it the 5-5-7 breath. Breath in for 5, hold for 5 and breathe out for 7. It can be done anywhere, anytime and always works.
Lastly, I invite you to open up to the idea that your worth is NOT equal to your productivity. You, as a mother and as a woman are worthy because you are uniquely you. The person you are and the way you show up in your life is extremely impactful. Our children are much better at copying what we do than listening to what we say. So, next time you are feeling overwhelmed take a step back and think about what you want your kids to see because chances are they will do what you do at some point.
What are the benefits of coaching for mom burnout and what type of coaching sessions do you do?
The beauty of working with a coach is that it takes all the guesswork out of transformation. As moms, we are already so busy and don’t have time for more research and planning. A coach will do all that work for you as well as be your cheerleader and accountability partner.
A Life Coach is like a personal trainer for your mindset, and a Health Coach is like a personal trainer for your lifestyle. My goal as a coach is to help moms upgrade their beliefs which will expand the number of possibilities and choices available to them, as well as create lasting habit change in every area of their lives so they become the woman and mother they are destined to be.
I offer 1:1 customized programs over the phone. The options include a one-time 60-minute session, or a package of 4-weeks, 12-weeks, or 24-weeks. These packages include a weekly 60-minute call, 24/7 email support, and time-efficient action steps to help expedite the transformation.
