What exactly is positive parenting? Well, positive parenting is perfect for parents who want to discipline their kids but at the same time ensures that their spirits are not broken. This sort of parenting is built on mutual respect. The children are treated as individuals and not as objects. If we really want our children to listen to our feelings and thoughts then we need to lead by example. Here are a few positive parenting tips and techniques that you can use in your life –

Let your child have a right to his/her feelings

No parent would want to stifle his child. The child should be able to express his thoughts and feelings as he has a right to feel sad and disappointed at times. However, it is the duty of the parent to teach the child how to express these feelings appropriately. The child should express his feelings anywhere but within certain limits. He/She is not expected to scream in stores and on roads.

Positive parenting Discipline, Do not Punish

The biggest difference between positive parenting techniques and other methods is that the sole focus is on discipline and not on punishment. Discipline means to train by instructions whereas to punish means to inflict a penalty. We must teach our children the correct way to behave without using blame and without inflicting any sort of punishment. Our job is to equip them to be competent and fully capable young adults.

Teach Empathy

When your children sees that you have empathy for others, it teaches them to become kind and compassionate. You must not scold your children at the drop of a hat. You cannot understand your child until you try to consider things from their point of view. You need to climb into their skin and walk around in it. The children will learn to empathize with others irrespective of race and economic standing.
