With the outbreak of the biggest pandemic of all times, self-quarantine has become a way of life. Staying indoors is perhaps the best thing to do to save oneself from the deadly virus. And that is what employers realize too, which is the reason why they are encouraging people to work from home these days. But staying indoors elevates the risk of being sedentary and gaining weight. Still, you can make conscious efforts to include an effective fitness plan into your quarantine self-care routine. With the right approach and plan, you can definitely stay lean and fit even during the quarantine.

Be mindful about what you eat

There are chances that you will gain weight when you stay indoors, with restrictions on gyms and outdoor activities. Moreover, you may end up snacking and eating unhealthy due to stress and boredom. The only way you can prevent the accumulation of extra pounds is by being mindful about what you eat. Prioritize fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and fruits and nuts. Not only will they keep you in good shape but boost your immunity as well, which is something you really need to have right now.

Follow a workout routine stringently

The astringent workout routine is something that can help you stay fit even when away from the gym or jogging track. Though indoor exercise may be something new for you, there are several options you can try. Consider taking online fitness classes or spending a few hours doing aerobics every day. If you are into weight training, you can invest in some fitness gear and create a small home gym to continue with your workout program. Or you may just play your favorite music and dance to burn the extra calories. As long as it keeps you fit, any form of indoor exercise works!

Keep yourself motivated

Staying on track with your fitness plan at home requires you to be motivated enough to exercise every day. This sounds challenging but you can implement some easy ideas to keep your motivation levels up. Investing in the latest gym wear gives you that feel-good factor- you can visit here to check the latest activewear trends and get inspired for giving your wardrobe a refresh. Motivation comes easier if you have a workout buddy who follows your fitness journey and challenges you all the time. You may consider joining an online fitness community as well.

Focus on mental health too

Apart from staying physically fit and lean during self-quarantine, you need to invest in mental health too. Being indoors for months puts you at high risk of social isolation, which can cause mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and stress. Meditation and deep breathing can help you alleviate stress and bring positivity. And workouts like yoga and tai-chi can do double duty when it comes to keeping you physically fit and mentally healthy.

Staying lean and fit during quarantine is easier than it sounds. It is just about investing in the right lifestyle changes and you can maintain your shape and weight even when locked indoors.
