The concept of motherhood has seen several swings and changes over the past centuries and even in the recent decades. What can we say about the modern mom? The basic nurturing and caring role of mothers is perhaps the only thing that has remained constant, everything else seems to have been changing ever since time imemorable.

So what does make a modern mom? Well, based on research, here’s what we have surmised:
Mothers & Careers and the rise of the mompreneur
You don’t have to sacrifice either your career or your motherhood now. Not only are there many flexible options available for working women nowadays, there are also several concessions that you can request. For instance, maternity leaves and early off will allow you to spend more time with your babies. You can also bring them with you at work, hence you can be a terrific mom and a phenomenal worker at once. Modern moms can also be working moms or mompreneurs working from home, this is not the time of ancient Rome.
Modern mom – Companions not Bosses
Modern mothers ought to be companions for their children, not their bosses. Don’t try to dictate or dominate your children’s life, let them make their own decisions, even if they make mistakes, they’ll learn something out of it. Also try to support them as partners, in everything. If you think that they are doing something wrong then having a healthy discussion is much better than scolding them.
Become confidants for your children
Children should feel as if they can share everything, and I mean literally every single thing, with their mothers – if you have that kind of bond then you’re definitely a modern mother. This is not easy to achieve, there’s definitely going to be hesitation and friction at first, but you have to show them that you’ll always be there for them. It will take time, but will be definitely worth it.
