There are several supplies your child needs for their first day of gymnastics. Make sure they’re ready by getting them all the right tools to succeed.

Kids need plenty of exercise to grow strong and expend their boundless energy. Enrolling them in a sport is a great way to teach them teamwork while getting their hearts pumping. If you’ve got a jumper on your hands, gymnastics might be the activity for your family.

As you prepare for your child’s first day of gymnastics, don’t forget to pack a bag full of essential supplies. Your kiddo needs a few tools to make their first class successful.

A Comfortable Outfit

First, make sure to dress your child in a comfortable outfit. Their uniform should be age-appropriate, allowing them to move and flip around easily.

You have a few options when it comes to gym outfits. There are a few things to consider when choosing a leotard if you want to obtain one for your child. Or you may want to send your children to class in a T-shirt and shorts. Talk with the instructor for recommendations based on your kid’s age and skill set.

Hair Brush and Accessories

Gymnastics is an active sport and your kids will sweat a lot. If they have long hair, you’ll need to tie it up for maximum comfort. Putting their hair up will also help them see what they’re doing and reduce the chances of injury.

Pack a brush in their gym bag in case they need a touch-up. You should also pack extra hair bands, clips, and bobby pins. This way, they have everything they need to keep their hair out of their face.

Hand Wipes and Sanitizer

Let’s be honest: gyms are gross. As much as you want your child to have fun, you probably don’t want them bringing germs and grime into your home. That’s why you should pack some basic hygiene supplies into their gym bag.

Give them hand wipes and hand sanitizer to use during and after practice. This will keep germs at a minimum. You can also pack deodorant and body wipes so they can clean themselves before they come home.

Plenty of Water

Of course, everyone needs access to water while they’re exercising. The gym will probably have water fountains, but it’s more hygienic to send your kids with their own water bottles.

Get them a sturdy, reusable water bottle that you can wash at the end of practice. Get one in their favorite color, so they feel encouraged to rehydrate themselves. Be sure to write their name on it so they don’t lose it among everyone else’s stuff.

Your child needs these supplies for their first day of gymnastics. Starting them off on the right foot will give them the confidence they need to persevere through the beginning stages of their new sport.
