Birthday parties are an awesome way for kids to celebrate their birthdays and have fun with their family and friends. If your child has decided they want a birthday party, it can be challenging to think of some fun themes for the birthday party. Birthday party themes can be used to add creativity and excitement to a birthday celebration, so take 20 of the best themes listed below into consideration when planning a birthday party for your child.

Aquarium Party

You can have a party at an aquarium, or you can create an aquarium ambiance at home. Create invitations with fish designs and images to get guests excited about coming over for this fun children’s birthday party celebration.

Lemonade Stand Party

This is an excellent theme for children who want to start their own business one day! Make sure you serve the lemonade in real mason jars and decorate your home with cute lemonade stand signs with “Happy Birthday” messages on them.

Spa Day Party

For a spa day theme, you can have your child and their guests come dressed in bathrobes and slippers and provide them each a face mask, manicure, and pedicure. Serve light refreshments like cucumber water and fruit salad.

Superhero Party

If your child loves superheroes, this will be a super theme! Have guests come dressed as their favorite superheroes and set up different activity stations for them to enjoy, like face painting, cake decorating, and obstacle courses.

Fairytale Party

Decorate your home in twinkling lights and pastel colors and serve up a grand feast fit for your little princess or prince. To really complete the fairy tale theme, you can have a mirror photo booth set up with props. Be sure to look for a mirror photo booth for sale before having this party theme, as they are becoming increasingly popular. Include games and activities like Pin the Tail on the Unicorn, storytelling, and a bean bag toss.

Hawaiian Luau Party

Luau parties are fun at any age! Adorn your child and their guests in colorful leis, flower crowns, sunglasses, and grass skirts. Serve island-inspired food and drinks like fruit kabobs, sea-shell macaroni, coconut shrimp, and shaved ice. Include fun luau-themed party games like limbo, Pass the Coconut, and a relay race.

Science Party

Is your child an aspiring scientist? If so, they’ll love this theme! Set up fun (and safe) experiments that will simultaneously educate and entertain your child and their guests. Or, invite them to play a spider solitaire game dedicated to notable women in technology.

Pirate Party

Ahoy, matey! Set sail for an adventure on the high seas with a pirate-themed party. Have guests dress up in their best pirate costumes and decorate your home with treasure chests and maps. Serve fish sticks, skeleton bones (yogurt-covered pretzels), and assorted fruits.

Pool Party

If your child enjoys swimming, a pool party is a great idea. Have an outdoor barbecue and serve refreshing drinks like fruit punch and fruit smoothies while the guests play games in the pool. You can also set up a waterslide or have a dunk tank for even more fun.

Safari

Take your child and their guests on a safari adventure with this fun theme! Decorate your home or the party venue like a jungle and serve foods like lion and zebra meatballs, gazelle skewers, and crocodile stew. Play games like animal charades, jungle bingo, and “find the hidden animals.”

Camping Party

Make s’mores over a campfire and play games like capture the flag, mummy wrap, and duck-duck-goose. You can also set up tents for everyone to sleep in later in the night.

Under the Sea Party

Take your child and their guests on a journey to the ocean’s depths with this under the sea party. Include fun activities like mermaid face painting, a treasure hunt, and a magnetic fishing game. You can even screen fun sea movies like The Little Mermaid or Finding Nemo.

Tea Party

Serve finger sandwiches and tea in china cups for your posh child and their guests. You can also encourage guests to dress up as characters from Alice in Wonderland and serve up desserts like cake pops, cupcakes with bunny ears, and lemonade.

Garden Party

Help your child grow a garden while they celebrate at this fun party! Serve food typically grown in gardens like carrots (dipped in ranch dressing) and fruit salad, along with other fun snacks like worms in dirt pudding desserts.

Movie Night Party

Rent out a theater or set up a projector in your backyard and serve popular movie snacks like popcorn, candy, and nachos. You can also dress up as your favorite character from a movie or play games like “guess the movie” or play movie charades.

Harry Potter Party

Enter the world of wizardry with this Harry Potter party theme. Serve up food like pumpkin pasties and butterbeer while listening to music from the movie or playing Harry Potter trivia. You can also have a wand-making station where party guests can decorate wands.

Carnival Party

If your child’s birthday is during carnival season, this theme is perfect! Bring the carnival to your home by having a ring toss, face painting, and balloon darts (as long as safeguards are in place). Foods like corn dogs, funnel cake, and caramel apples are sure to get everyone in the carnival-season spirit!

Sweet Shop

This party has it all, from a cotton candy machine to an ice cream sundae station! Transform your home into a sweet shop that is replete with sweet, delicious treats!

Pizza Party

Who doesn’t love pizza? Serve up slices of pizzas along with different dips and chips while you play games like “pin the pepperoni on the slice” or “best pizza topping.”

Toy Story Party

This is an excellent theme for kids who love toys and Toy Story! Serve food like the Pizza Planet pizza, while listening to the movie’s music. You can also have a coloring station, photo booth, and games like “Pin the Tail on Slinky Dog” or piñatas.

Wrap-Up

In conclusion, no matter what theme your child decides on, be sure to have lots of fun, don’t stress, and make some incredible memories that will last a lifetime. Your child will greatly appreciate it.
